AI Education in Rwanda: Anaclet “Nac” NSABIMANA’s Journey
When people talk about AI education in Rwanda, one name rises naturally — Anaclet NSABIMANA. Founder of Smart250 Academy and the AKARIHO Tech YouTube channel, he is one of the key bridges linking Rwanda to the future of digital innovation, even while based in Belgium.
But his journey didn’t start in a classroom — it began in a small cybercafé when he was just 15 years old, hungry to explore technology when most teenagers were discovering games and music. Today, he has taught over 1,300 people, created Rwanda’s largest digital learning community, and continues to push AI education in Rwanda toward global excellence.

Actions over words. Vision over noise.
Humble Beginnings of AI Education in Rwanda
AI education in Rwanda is certainly not something Anaclet learned yesterday. In fact, his roots are built on 18 years of continuous digital exploration. Raised in a cybercafé environment, he was already navigating computers long before many people even had internet at home.
Subsequently, he studied Electronics and Telecommunication, thereby adding academic structure to his passion for digital systems. During the COVID-19 period, while the world paused, he moved forward — specifically investing in AI studies at a time when very few in Africa were thinking beyond survival.
Ultimately, this forward-thinking dedication is precisely where his global vision was born.
Smart250 Academy: The Home of AI Education in Rwanda
Smart250 Academy, originally a WhatsApp community, has now grown into something much greater than anyone imagined.
- Over 1,300 active learners
- A second group launched because growth became too large
- A website coming soon to teach AI, Tech, and digital skills
- Learning in Kinyarwanda, accessible to every youth
In a continent where many think “AI = ChatGPT,” Anaclet provides truth, structure, and hope.
This is why he stands as one of the few pioneers of AI education in Rwanda, even though he lives in Belgium.
Facing Challenges, Rising Higher
One of his biggest challenges is misconceptions — because many think ChatGPT and AI are the same.
But Anaclet patiently builds understanding, brick by brick.
He admits he leads with kindness, something many people mistake for weakness. Yet this kindness is exactly what allows him to carry the dreams of many people.
AI Will Change the Job Market — And Rwanda Must Prepare
He doesn’t hide the truth:
“AI will take jobs — but it will create even more jobs.” Says Anaclet NSABIMANA.
His message:
Study AI. Learn the basics. The future belongs to you.
His academy aims to become a real digital school with international impact.
This is AI education in Rwanda with purpose, clarity, and heart.
YouTube, Creativity, and the Smart250 Community
Anaclet teaches YouTube not as a shortcut to fame, but as a career of discipline, originality, and value.
He warns against the biggest beginner mistakes:
- “Sub for sub” games that kill channels
- Violating YouTube policy
- Switching fields without authenticity
- Copying instead of creating
He encourages Rwandan creators to build quality, not hype.

Creators’ Day: A Historic Milestone
The Smart250 Creators’ Day event was more than a meetup — it was proof of what Rwanda can become.
People shared knowledge, collaborated, and formed friendships that will shape the future.
The atmosphere was full of ambition — not competition.
This is how AI education in Rwanda builds community, purpose, and confidence.

What Makes Rwanda Different from Europe
He explains that:
- Europe has fewer creators, but they come with clear identity and direction
- Rwanda has more creators, but many search for shortcuts
His mission is to build creators with purpose, not confusion.
That is AI education in Rwanda — strong roots, global identity.
